Prisoner to the Streets is an autobiographical narrative which  chronicles the experiences of a young man growing up in two  different areas that later turned out to become serious rivals.  Robin is torn between loyalties to friends – old and new. The book  explores the street war between areas in the same postcode–London  Fields and Holly Street E8. It also looks at seeds of the Hackney  and Tottenham postcode war that erupted in the late 90’s and  continued for many years. It also shows how the comfortable and  uncomfortable truth can conspire to produce consequences that could  be seen as both necessary and acceptable.  For the author, the concept of family and friends imposes and  maintains a fragile relationship between ‘living’ death and  ‘surviving’ life.  His freedom from the physical umbilical cord of the womb did not  necessarily liberate him, but instead he became a prisoner of  circumstances and the street. He eventually frees himself from the  shackles of his mind that kept him a prisoner to the streets. This  book is a personal account of a young man’s battle to understand  the world around him.  THE VOICE NEWSPAPER
